ADR Safety Equipment
In 2009 the regulations governing the carriage of dangerous goods are amended on the two year update cycle, most of the changes, including those concerning safety equipment and TREM cards where introduced on an optional basis from 1st Jan 2009 but become mandatory from 1st July 2009. Some of the changes in safety equipment apply across all classes and some items of safety equipment are specific to the classes of goods being carried.
Throughout this web page alongside each photograph we have shown what the requirement is in ADR 2009. Some of the general requirements we have made up into kits, which make the purchasing of a number of items simpler, and they are then supplied in a small nylon kit bag for safe keeping.

High visibility conspicuity marking tape![]() This tape can be used to highlight the rear and sides of trailers to make them stand out in the dark. This tape, which is 50 mm wide, is self adhesive and reflects light falling onto it in a colour depending on the specification of the tape. If you load trailers at night the use of this tape can help to increase the visibility to other vehicles in the vicinity. There is talk in Government circles about adopting the European Directive which will amend the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations and will require large goods vehicles and their trailers to be fitted with rear marker plates to improve their conspicuity and indicate their size. As a result of these changes new reflective tapes have been manufactured to meet the stringent requirements of UN ECE Regulation 104 (R104) but these tapes are expensive and in the current climate there is little enthusiasm for burdening an industry already under pressure with additional costs. An average trailer will have a perimeter measurement of about 13 metres and with prices of EN 104 reflective tape at £6 to £8 per metre this will cost £78 to £104 per trailer. BseenBsafe has been able to secure supplies at just £4.50 per metre making the cost to fit EN 104 reflective tape less than £60 per trailer. More information about the legislation and the use of retro reflective conspicuity tape [WORD]![]() The tape can be supplied either as a 50 metre roll or we can supply any length you require. To order a cut length of tape, select the number of metres required in the quantity drop-down. For example, to order a continuous 20m length , select 20. FREE DELIVERY for a limited time. |
