When you are stranded by the roadside - whether it be day or night, good visibility or bad - there is no doubt that you will be
more readily seen by other drivers if you are wearing a high visibility vest*, made of reflective material, which meets the
international standards for performance.
In certain circumstances, such as travelling on the continent, the additional protection of at least one, in some cases two, self standing warning triangles is a legal requirement to warn approaching drivers of the hazard that is ahead of them. Low-cost reflective snap-on armbands also increase your visibility - wear around your ankles when cycling to be more readily seen by other road users. When walking/hiking or cycling in remote areas, an emergency thermal blanket could save your life if you become stranded in bad weather. |
